The Prince & Me

Someday your Prince will come, and, if you're lucky, he'll be smarter than this movie. Julia Stiles plays a premed student who gets stuck with Luke Mably as an organic-chemistry lab partner and coworker in a college bar (he's actually the Prince of Denmark, hiding from familial responsibilities back home). Though they have little real chemistry in the lab or out, they fall in love because they're both attractive young people, and that's what attractive young people do in movies like this.
In fact, the whole thing is so lazy it decides to give up halfway through the story, allowing life-changing plot conflicts to be resolved with embarrassingly dumb ease while supporting characters dissolve into thin air. This kind of fluff, in competent hands, could be springy, romantic and fun, but here it's just matted down and dull. What a royal bore!
